If you’ve been getting quotes for roof restoration in Perth, you’ve probably heard the phrase “15-year warranty” come up. But not all warranties are the same, and it’s worth understanding exactly what the Dulux Acratex warranty covers - and who is actually authorised to offer it.

What Is the Dulux Acratex 15-Year Warranty?

The Dulux Acratex manufacturer warranty is a product performance warranty backed by Dulux - not just by the roofing contractor. It covers the coating system against failure (peeling, flaking, significant colour fade beyond expected tolerances) for 15 years from the date of application.

This is different from a contractor workmanship warranty, which is offered by the company doing the work and is only as strong as that company’s ongoing existence and goodwill. The Dulux Acratex warranty follows the product and is supported by a major Australian manufacturer.

What Makes a Roof Eligible for the Dulux Acratex Warranty?

This is the critical part, and it changed in July 2026. Dulux removed its warranty registration process entirely. There is no form to submit, no registration number, and no countersigned certificate issued per job. Eligibility now rests on one thing: the products being applied in accordance with Dulux Acratex specifications, on a roof that has not been previously coated.

Accreditation is no longer a requirement for warranty eligibility. It still tells you something useful about a contractor, but it is not what makes the warranty apply.

We hold the Dulux Acratex Accredited Applicator, Roofing Specialist accreditation, which is the highest level available for residential roof coating work. This means:

• We’re trained and assessed by Dulux on correct product application
• We apply the full specified system: primer, undercoat, and topcoat
• We keep the application records that support a claim, because since July 2026 nothing is lodged with Dulux at completion and the applicator holds the evidence
• The warranty is issued by Dulux, on their materials, not by us

If a contractor says they’ll give you “a 15-year warranty” but can’t show Dulux Acratex accreditation, that warranty isn’t manufacturer-backed - it’s just a document they’ve produced themselves, and it’s only as reliable as the contractor who wrote it.

What the Warranty Covers

The Dulux Acratex warranty covers the coating system against:

• Peeling and flaking - the coating separating from the tile surface
• Significant colour fade - deterioration beyond the expected tolerances in the warranty document
• Coating failure - the system losing its weatherproofing performance within the warranty period

The warranty applies to the full system: primer, intermediate and topcoat applied to Dulux specification.

What the Warranty Doesn’t Cover

As with all product warranties, there are exclusions:

• External damage - storm damage, hail, impact, falling branches, foot traffic damage
• Substrate failure - if the underlying tile or structure cracks or fails independently of the coating
• Incorrect application - if the system wasn’t applied to specification (which is why accreditation matters)
• Normal weathering - some degree of chalking and colour shift is expected; the warranty covers failure beyond normal tolerances

Why This Matters Specifically in Perth

Perth’s UV environment is among the most intense in Australia. Roof coatings here face conditions significantly harsher than in Melbourne or Sydney - higher UV load, greater daily temperature swings, and longer periods of direct sun exposure.

The Dulux Acratex system is formulated and tested for Australian conditions including Perth’s climate. A correctly applied Acratex system handles these conditions well over its warranty life. A budget single-coat job without proper priming is a different story - it tends to chalk, fade, and begin to peel within 5-8 years.

What You Receive on Completion

When we complete a roof restoration or roof painting job, you receive:

1. A completed job using the Dulux Acratex system applied to manufacturer specification
2. The Dulux Acratex Roof Coating Material Warranty document, provided at completion
3. Documentation of the products used, their batch numbers and application dates

Since July 2026 Dulux no longer issues a numbered certificate per job - the residential warranty is the standard document, provided to you at completion. Keep it with your proof of purchase: those are what a claim is assessed on. The material warranty is Dulux’s and covers their coating materials; our own 12-month workmanship guarantee is separate and covers our labour.

Questions Worth Asking Any Roofing Contractor

Before accepting a quote for roof painting in Perth, ask:

• Are you a Dulux Acratex Accredited Applicator? Ask to see accreditation details.
• Will you provide a manufacturer warranty document? Not just a verbal commitment.
• Are you applying a full system - primer plus two coats? A single coat without primer doesn’t qualify for manufacturer warranty coverage.
• What specific products are you using? If they can’t name the product, that’s worth noting.
